Funded by King County

Best Starts for Kids Wage Boost Pilot Project

Best Starts for Kids, a voter-approved initiative, includes an investment of a $5 million Child Care Wage Boost Pilot that will provide already-deserved wage enhancements to 1,400 workers at selected child care sites in King County through 2027 and study the impact of these wage boosts.

The Best Starts project is taking action on equity problems long-spotlighted by advocates, learning more about our child care systems from on-the-ground experts, and building tools towards long-term policy changes towards countywide sustainable funding. Together, we can build stronger child care infrastructure in King County that benefits us all.
